Exclusive CANPFA Liability Insurance Product
Liability Insurance

After two years of research and development CANPFA can now offer its member facilities a superior liability insurance arrangement. Program features are as follows:
  • Exclusivity with CANPFA - only CANPFA members have access to this program.
  • Members have the option to use their own preferred broker. The CANPFA Program Manager, AmWINS Healthcare, is a "wholesale" broker and “program manager” that can work with "retail" brokers.
  • Underwritten by an A++ AM Best rated Insurance Company
  • Preferred nonprofit rates. Our program underwriters understand that, in general, nonprofits pose a lesser risk than proprietary nursing homes, and take that into consideration in quoting your policy.
  • Additional discounts. For a nominal fee to pay for an onsite inspection, which is refundable if you go forward with the program, CANPFA members are eligible for up to a 25 percent additional discount on their premium (the exact discount depending on what the inspection finds). This inspection and discount is entirely voluntary.
  • Reduced minimum premium. Typically, the program insurance provider will only work with large accounts and often will not quote liability for premiums less than $50,000 or even $100,000. They have waived this for CANPFA and have reduced their minimum premium to $25,000.
  • High limits of coverage available.
  • Our Program Manager can assist with providing other property and casualty coverage as well.

For more information or to get a quote, please contact or have your Agent contact AmWINS Healthcare. Please realize that the quotation process takes about a month, so plan ahead.

Money Saving Programs from AAHSA and CANPFA

Together with AAHSA, CANPFA provides members with direct access to two money-saving programs. The Group Purchasing Program, with more than 50 contracts, offers savings on over 35,000 products and has something for every type of provider. Our Shared Services Program allows members to save on services and solutions ranging from unemployment insurance and pre-employment screening to prescription discount cards.

CAST Clearinghouse

In response to a need for "a place to learn what's happening in aging services technologies", the Center for Aging Services Technologies at AAHSA has developed a web-based clearinghouse with content that is created by technology developers researchers and users. Aging services volunteers review and approve submitted content. This dynamic resource contains information about cutting-edge research, pilot projects, and products that are designed to improve the independence and quality of life for older adults.

CAST, AAHSA and CANPFA invite you to both consume and submit content online. Let your peers know what works and what doesn't. You can also post your willingness to participate in a pilot project, or engage in dialogue on the discussion forums.

The Web site walks you through the short content submission process of creating a login and submitting a summary of your project. Generally it will take less than 10 minutes and there is no cost to anyone using the CAST site. If you have any difficulties or questions during the submission process, contact support@agingtech.org, or Russ Bodoff rbodoff@aahsa.org (202)508-9463.
